ACG WI Next Gen: John Koskinen, Chief Economist, WI Department of Revenue

John Koskinen is the Chief Economist for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.  He previously served as the Division Administrator for the Division of Research and Policy Analysis, Wisconsin Department of Revenue.  He was originally appointed to that position during the Doyle Administration in June 2007 and reappointed by Governor Walker's administration in January 2011 before leaving the position in August 2015.  He returned to DOR as the Chief Economist in February 2016. 

John has testified on the Wisconsin economy before several standing committees of the state legislature.  He has presented on Wisconsin economic outlook to the various groups around the state including state and regional economic development associations, colleges and universities, financial institutions and trade associations.  He has been cited as a commentator on the Wisconsin economy in the press, radio, and television throughout the state and the country. 

Prior to joining the Department of Revenue in 2007, John served as the Staff Economist for the Governor's Budget Office, Wisconsin Department of Administration from 1979 to 2007.  He started his professional career at the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau, moved on to the Department of Commerce, then back to graduate school before settling in at DOA.
