Celebrating the Season
Join ACG New
Jersey on Tuesday December 5th to celebrate the holidays. Spend the
time catching up with your peers and making new relationships for the
New Year while enjoying a full buffet breakfast with a champagne mimosa toast.
Last
year ACG NJ members and guests celebrated and shared their good fortune
by supporting Toys for Tots, a non-profit which deliver toys to
children in need. This year we have the power to help and support
another very worthy non-profit, Jersey Battered Women's Service Inc.,
JBWS, which helps those hurt by domestic abuse as they courageously
build a new life. Hear Patricia Sly, Executive Director and CEO discuss
that victims are more than just a statistic. They are our loved ones,
neighbors, friends and coworkers.
Please consider helping to this worthy
cause by donating:
Gift
cards from discount stores such as Target, Kohls, Walmart, or large grocery
stores like ShopRite. Or, an unwrapped item from the wish list below helps
those living in transition or in a JBWS safe house.
Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and religious groups. Although most victims of reported domestic violence cases are women who are abused by men, there are reported cases of women who abuse their male intimate partners, women who abuse women, and men who abuse men. A person may be a victim even if s/he is not legally married to the abusive partner, is gay or lesbian, is separated or divorced, or is abused by someone else in the household, such as a parent or a child.
Jersey Battered Women's Service Inc. in Morris County, NJ is a full-service domestic violence and domestic abuse prevention agency with volunteer opportunities. The services include a 24-hour hotline; counseling; safe house; transitional living; children's services; life skills education; vocational counseling; batterers' intervention; legal assistance; teen dating violence services; and professional training, education and youth prevention programs.
