From Start-up to Scale-up: An Entrepreneur's Tale

Despite all the business plans, models and theories out there, an entrepreneurial journey is first and foremost a psychological journey. It’s a journey which starts in the mind and the heart. Do you have an idea and are itching to start your own venture? Do you find yourself constantly debating: Should you or should you not? This talk will focus on the lessons, dilemmas, the practical aspects, the daily joys and pain of an entrepreneurial journey- with a special focus on the pharmaceutical field. Product development in the pharma/biotech field is capital intensive and development cycles are very long- it takes many millions and many years for a product to come to market with many stops in between which could terminate the journey. Founder, President and CEO

Ajay Singh is Founder and CEO of Slayback Pharma. He has led Slayback from its early start-up days to its current position of strength. His career has spanned through various segments of the generic pharmaceutical industry- including the branded side, generics business, biologics as well as the API side. Before Slayback, he was the Vice President of Strategy, Portfolio and Business Development at Dr Reddy’s for the North American Generics Division. In that role, he led product strategy, business development, key M&A initiatives, settlement of patent litigations, and the pursuit towards complex generic opportunities through internal and external R&D alliances. Ajay has an MBA from IIM Bangalore and an LLB from Delhi University.

Ajay was awarded the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Award in the Life Sciences category in New Jersey. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas such as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
