Overview
Anatomy of Two Buyout Deals
In this seminar we will explore the trajectory of two PE backed deals and draw some conclusions from each that should be helpful for investors and operating board members in similar scenarios.
The first is a textbook carveout of a non-core specialty chemicals business from a large multinational parent. The company is set up as a standalone and sold to a strategic acquirer in two years at an excellent return. The second is a messier purchase of two family-owned companies in engineering services and their combination into a single entity. Over a period of 5 years, the company struggled with leadership and a growth process. Finally, things came together, and the company was sold to a PE acquirer at a good return.
