The Fine Art of Risk Financing
Traditionally,
businesses and other organizations have handled risk, including the placement
of employee benefits by transferring it to an insurance company through the
purchase of an insurance policy. However, Alternative Risk Transfer (ART)
techniques for the financing of risk continue to evolve. This presentation will
examine ART programs such as Captives that are being deployed by businesses in
lieu of traditional insurance products for both property/casualty and employee
benefit programs. The presentation also will help provide an understanding of
when use of ART programs are viable from a total cost perspective relative to
the alignment of a company’s willingness to assume more of its own risks.
