Overview
Pat Gilligan, VP & New Business Development Director - The Americas, Marubeni America Corporation, will lead a group discussion on “New Methodologies in M&A Deal Sourcing”.
As we all know, building relationships with potential strategic acquiror targets is a key factor in building a strong deal flow. Yet, with time and resources at a premium, the challenge has always been to effectively identify appropriate targets to build relationships with. We’ll discuss and explore best practices and what attendees use and find most effective/successful. How do you capture data (companies, contacts)? How do you track and reprioritize them over time? How do you share with your team? Is there a CRM? As a second part, we’ll discuss the increasing competitive function of “sourcing” and how AI and new online services are gaining a foothold. Some of these services may allow corporates, large and small, to close the gap with private equity. There are new suite services and tools available beyond the traditional Cap IQ, CRM’s, and ongoing connections with I-Bankers, and cold calling potential targets Some of these include Finquest, Sourcescrub, Axial, RelPro, PrivSource and others. The question then is how to efficiently and effectively select and best use these new options.
At our meeting, Patrick will take us through a variety of this new breed of services as he seeks experiences and insights on the subject from all attendees.
