February 8, 2017

Corporate Development Strategy:
Role in Activist Investors

Connect and exchange ideas with your peer corporate development executives responsible for strategic acquisitions at a roundtable dinner discussion.  February's discussion will center on the corporate development role as it relates to activist investors.

SPEAKERS:

Darren Novak, Managing Director, UBS
UBS Group AG hired Darren Novak, a managing director at Houlihan Lokey Inc, in its New York office to advise companies on how to defend themselves against activist investors. Novak's role represents a tactical switch after he worked with activist investors at Houlihan, offering them advice on pressuring companies. Before joining Houlihan in 2011, Novak worked as an M&A partner at Canadian law firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP. Before that, he worked at two other law firms, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and White & Case LLP.

Jackson Dunckel, CFO, Advanced Metallurgical Group
Jackson Dunckel was appointed Chief Financial Officer of AMG on February 1, 2016 and a member of the AMG Management Board on May 4, 2016. Dunckel joined AMG from the Macquarie Group Limited where he served as Managing Director and U.S. Head of Chemicals from 2010 to 2015.
