Deal Talk: Do's and Don'ts

On 7th February 2023 Virtual Vaults and IBS Capital Allies came together to host a panel discussion for the members and guests of ACG Holland. They arranged for 3 entrepreneurs to talk about their observations during the sale of their business, from deciding to sell the company until the close of the deal. 

Moderated by Jan Jaap Omvlee, the entrepreneurs included:

Jacob Jan van Duijvenvoorde -  CFO of Restaurant Company Europe (a.i. Loetje group), a portfolio company of Waterland. He supervised a few add-ons of the company. He was formerly a corporate finance advisor at IBS and Rabobank.

Joep van den Eijkel a founder of You Sure B.V.  The company was sold to PE firm Synergia in 2019.

Benjamin Besselsen a founder of Liffin (temporary sleeping accommodation for the ultimate overnight experience at your event) – Benjamin has just sold part-ownership to ID&T

It was an enlightened discussion punctuated with many laughs as real-life experiences were shared in a light-hearted way. The key takeaways for our those involved in the sale and purchase of businesses - communication and empathy. Emotions are often running very high, especially when family businesses are being sold.
