Since entering the pest control industry in February 1963, Harvey Massey has enjoyed a truly remarkable career. He began as a service technician with Orkin Pest Control Company and within 11 years became Orkin’s youngest Vice President in company history. After 16 years with Orkin, he joined Terminix International as Sr. Vice President of Operations. In six years with Terminix, the company went from $40 million in annual revenues to over $100 million.  In February 1985, he left Terminix and purchased Walker Chemical and Exterminating Company in Orlando, Florida. He renamed the company Massey Services, Inc. in January 1987.

As a 52-year veteran of the industry, Harvey Massey has served in a variety of leadership positions in the pest management industry.  He served on the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA).  He is a Past Chairman of the Pest Control Research and Advisory Board of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and was the first Chairman of the Professional Pest Management Alliance.

In addition to operating his business and serving his industry, Mr. Massey is a highly active and visible community citizen. In 2009, he received the James B. Greene Award from the Economic Development Commission, The Earth Day Award from the EarthWeb Foundation, and the Volunteer of the Year for the East Central Region of the Florida Economic Development Council. In 2008, he was inducted as a Laureate into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame and in 2007 he was recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as one of Orlando’s Most Influential Citizens. He is a recipient of the Florida Hospital Foundation William Trickel, Jr. Volunteer Award, in addition to being named the Orange County 2006 Citizen of the Year. He has also received the Leukemia Society’s Service to Mankind award, the Jewish National Fund’s Tree of Life award, Junior Achievement “Spirit of Achievement” award, and has been recognized by UCP of Central Florida with the J. D. Holloway Star of Gratitude.

He is past President of Florida Citrus Sports, was appointed by Governor Charlie Christ and served two years on the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, he is a former Chairman of the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Task Force, and is a former Board Member of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Orlando-Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Dr. Phillips, Inc., Stetson University, the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of Greater Orlando and Junior Achievement. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation.

An ardent supporter of education, Mr. Massey is a member of the Rollins College President’s Leadership Council, and has previously served on the Board of Governors of Stetson University and the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement. In October 2009, he was selected to Chair the Board of the Rollins Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship Program. In September 2007, Mr. Massey was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pontifical Irish College, Rome, Italy.

In 1993, Mr. Massey completed the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Program.

Harvey and Carol Massey have been married for 50 years. They have three children, ten grandchildren and live in Winter Park, Florida.
