Marina Merzel is a visual communications and branding specialist with over 25 years experience working with premier lifestyle brands. She has won numerous design awards, including an EMMY for advertising excellence in the PSA category, and worked for top agencies in NYC before launching her own branding firm. After 18 years of running the firm with a lifestyle client list that included DeBeers, DaimlerBenz, Diageo, HARMAN Kardon, Nine West and more she began to play recreational tennis—which changed the course of her career.
As her interest in tennis developed, Marina noticed a need in the industry and in true entrepreneurial spirit began a journey to provide the solution. This spark ignited into a passion and she decided to combine her two interests—tennis and visual design—to launch COURTGIRL Brand, a unique gifts and accessories line for women who love tennis. In just over a year, through relentless effort, social media outreach and grit—COURTGIRL Brand gained a devoted client base, a.k.a. the Courtgirl Team. The products are sold on courtgirl.com, in a retail showroom downtown Westport, CT as well as through 150 retailers nationally and overseas. Since its inception in 2021, COURTGIRL Brand has been invited to collaborate with Williams-Sonoma M&G, Easy Spirit, Tail Activewear and Babolat among others. The products have been featured in VOGUE, Tennis Magazine, FORBES, The Atlantian and more.
Marina is passionate about giving back and has made a dedicated philanthropic effort an important part of the COURTGIRL Brand mission. To date, COURTGIRL has donated to over 175 organizations and Marina hopes to grow the business for greater positive impact in the local community and beyond.
