A native New Yorker, raised in the south Bronx, Leah was exposed to basketball at an early age. She was involved with NYC basketball tournaments summer league events, handling team agenda and logistics. Her interest in basketball had developed into a passion fulfilled by her 30+ years with the NBA.  

In her current position, Leah acts as a liaison on behalf of the Commissioner’s Office between players, family members and celebrities who are fans of the NBA/WNBA.

An accomplished advisor, mentor and trailblazer, Leah has crafted a distinguished career supporting personal and professional development of basketball players.

She takes pride in becoming the first African American Female Vice President. She has played the part of supporter, connector, and advocate for the current and retired players.  She acknowledges that players are multifaceted individuals both on and off the court and she is there to assist them.

Leah was named by Sports Illustrated as on the “101 Most Influential African Americans in Sports”:

“She may have more influence over players and executives of anyone in the league. Leah has a way about her that entices the guys to listen to her.” 

Her impact during the NBA has gone beyond the players.  She helped formed two professional basketball parent organizations “Mothers of Professional Basketball Players Inc.” and “Fathers & Men of Professional Basketball Players Inc.” Each organization is geared towards helping parents/family member navigate through the business of basketball, mentor each other and engage/support charitable organizations.  

Leah continues her outreach to players by providing resources as they navigate their next steps for retirement and the next phase in their careers. Continuously checking up on their mental health and wellbeing, assisting in connecting with key decision makers and recruited to partake in league programs/initiatives.     

In addition to her role, she sits on the NBA’s Legacy Board, NBRPA Cardiac Health Screening participation.  She has also dabbled in the entertainment world, credits for basketball themed movies, player tv appearances, documentaries (The Last Dance).
