YACG Columbus Luncheon: State of Play-the Ohio Cannabis Legalization Battle

Last year, cannabis advocates attempted to legalize recreational marijuana in Ohio via a November ballot initiative. The attempt ended in litigation between advocates and the State over technicalities that prevented a ballot initiative. But the litigation settled with a compromise: Ohio’s Secretary of State must submit the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol’s legalization proposal to the Ohio General Assembly, and the Assembly must act within 4 months (by May 3rd). Join us to unpack what Ohio’s General Assembly decided to do in light of the May 3rd deadline and how that decision will shape attempts to legalize cannabis in the State of Ohio this year.
