Matt Kaulig started LeafFilter® in the basement of his home in 2005, in a story reminiscent of Apple legend Steve Jobs: a one-man show, Kaulig took all sales calls on his personal cell phone, scheduled appointments, and stored inventory in his garage. From those modest beginnings, LeafFilter® has grown to a $600M company and still flourishing.

In 2017, EY named Kaulig the "Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of Northeast Ohio," an award celebrating unstoppable entrepreneurs creating products and services keeping our worldwide economy moving forward.

Matt Kaulig, Executive Chairman of Leaf Home Solutions™, Founder and Owner of LeafFilter® and Owner of Kaulig Racing™ Inc., is a successful entrepreneur and business owner.

Born in Columbus, OH, and raised in Cincinnati, Matt moved to the Chicago area at age 14 where he attended high school. He then came to Northeast Ohio to attend the University of Akron, where he was a standout quarterback for the Zips. Until this day, Matt remains heavily involved in the Akron Zips community, as he provides aid for the school’s football programs and lends a helping hand in sponsoring events.

During his time at the University of Akron, Matt met his wife, Lisa, who was an Akron Cheerleader from Copley, OH. Falling in love with the area, Matt decided to establish roots in Northeast Ohio when he started LeafFilter® Gutter Protection in 2005 from the basement of his home.

Thirteen years later, his fast-growing company grew from one small office in Hudson, OH, to the leading international gutter protection brand. LeafFilter® has been recognized nationally by numerous publications, earning awards for being a Top Remodeler in the nation and receiving recognition for the company’s growth and expansion.

Taking his decades of experience combined with his entrepreneurial spirit, Kaulig has shifted into his newest roles as Chairman of Kaulig Capital, Kaulig Companies Foundation, Kaulig Families Foundation, and Kaulig Media. He seeks to provide comprehensive investment and wealth management services, while building long-term relationships with his clients.
