Announcing a collaborative new event series presented by ACG Boston, ACG New York & ACG Philadelphia: the ACG Northeast Industry Tour.

The Industry Tour series will offer ½ day conferences designed to leverage the larger ACG community and foster connectivity among dealmakers and company executives in a highly targeted deal networking, discussion and education environment.

Dealmakers will benefit from leveraging the larger ACG community and will have the opportunity to:

  • Expand deal networks beyond their chapter
  • Deepen deal relationships in the sectors in which they invest
  • Engage in meaningful dialogue on trends and issues with those who operate, invest or advise in the same industry verticals as them

ACG Boston: Healthcare Conference

Boston is the 3rd and final stop in the ACG Northeast Industry Tour 2018, with a half day conference focused on the healthcare industry segment, including sessions on value-based care and healthcare IT. Private equity investors and investment bankers in the healthcare space will also get a chance to participate in focused, one-on-one meetings prior to the conference.

Kevin Tabb, MD (Keynote)

Kevin Tabb, MD, is Chief Executive Officer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

Under Dr. Tabb’s leadership, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and its network of community hospitals and physicians are delivering extraordinary care, fostering innovation, educating the next generation of clinicians, and cultivating groundbreaking discoveries in a rapidly evolving health care landscape.

Before coming to BIDMC, Dr. Tabb was Chief Medical Officer at Stanford University Medical Center. He had broad strategic and operational responsibilities, which included physician network strategy, clinical quality and patient safety initiatives, regulatory and medical staff affairs, and graduate and continuing medical education. He was previously Chief Quality and Medical Information Officer at Stanford. Prior to joining Stanford, was President of the Clinical Data Services Division of GE Healthcare IT.

Raised in Berkeley, CA, Dr. Tabb emigrated to Israel at the age of 18 and served in the Israel Defense Forces, the country’s military service. He received his undergraduate degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his M.D. from Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Hadassah Hospital.

He is married to Caron Tabb, a non-profit executive and artist. They have two children.

Rushika Fernandopulle is a practicing physician and co-founder and CEO of Iora Health, a venture backed, national de-novo primary care group based in Boston MA. He was the first Executive Director of the Harvard Interfaculty Program for Health Systems Improvement, and Managing Director of the Clinical Initiatives Center at the Advisory Board Company. He is a member of the Albert Schweitzer, Ashoka, Aspen, and Salzburg Global Fellowships, and is co-author or editor of several publications including Health Care Policy, a textbook for physicians and medical students, and Uninsured in America: Life and Death in the Land of Opportunity. He serves on the staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital, on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, and on the boards of Families USA and the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care. He earned his A.B., M.D., and M.P.P. (Masters in Public Policy) from Harvard University, and completed his clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Erin Jospe, Kyruus

Dr. Jospe brings over 15 years of clinical and healthcare IT experience to her role at Kyruus where she provides clinical input on product development and engage with key stakeholders at health systems across the country. She also serves as the primary liaison to the company’s clinical advisory board.

Prior to joining Kyruus, Dr. Jospe was the Chief Medical Officer at PatientKeeper, a provider of physician-focused EHR overlay solutions, where she led the clinical advisory team, translated clinical workflow needs into product specifications, and developed physician engagement strategies for clients. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Jospe practiced as an Internist for almost 16 years, including at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and in the Affiliated Practice Group of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She serves on the Massachusetts Digital Healthcare Council, an advisory board Governor Charlie Baker formed in 2016 to support the state’s digital health industry.

She received her Bachelor of Arts from Haverford College and Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, before doing her clinical training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.

Andrew Kaplan joined Bain Capital in 2009 as a member of the Private Equity team. He is a Principal in the Healthcare Vertical. He has been a key contributor in the acquisitions of Air Medical, Beacon Health, National Surgical Healthcare, Stada Arzneimittel, Surgery Partners, Value Options and the acquisition of assets from Healix, UPI and Bristol Myers Squibb to form the pharmaceutical services firm QuVa. Andrew currently serves on the Board of Directors of Surgery Partners, Beacon, and QuVa. He was the 2016 recipient of Bain’s Excelsior Award for exceptional performance and the highest excellence in embodying the firm’s core values. Prior to Bain, Andrew was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs. He also co-founded EngagedHealth, LLC, a post-hospitalization home-based service for chronically ill, low income patients aiming to improve outcomes, reduce readmissions, and save costs. This experience has been fundamental to informing his perspective on the value delivered to patients and the broader healthcare system through higher quality, lower cost care models. Andrew received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. As an undergraduate, he attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Class President for four years, and graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Economics.

Jon Lemelman, Riverside Partners

Jon brings 22 years of experience in private equity, software, and financial services and has worked closely with numerous middle market companies prior to joining the Riverside team in 2004. He currently manages the firm’s intermediary relationships and new investment evaluation.

Prior to joining Riverside, Jon was an investment professional at Fidelity Strategic Investments, the private equity investment division of Fidelity Investments, where he worked on investments in the software, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. Previously, he was the Director of Business Development at Reciprocal, Inc., an enterprise software company that was acquired by Microsoft in 2001. From 1995 to 1999, Jon was a Vice President in Fidelity Investments’ Institutional Services Company. He currently serves as a director for the Boston chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Jon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with distinction, from Emory University, and a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mary currently serves as a Senior Vice President at the Healthcare Finance Management Association (HFMA).  In this role, Mary is responsible for all content created and delivered to the industry and the HFMA membership.  This includes digital content, publications, professional development and certification along with educational offerings.

Mary also served as Global Leader of the Strategic Advisory Healthcare practice for DXC Technology. Prior to the creation of DXC in April 2017, Mary served as Vice President of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Global Healthcare Practice.   Previously, Mary served as a senior executive at Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).  In her role as Chief Program Officer, Mary managed a health information technology portfolio representing an annual budget of over $150M and generating a return of over $900M to HCA. 

Mary’s governance experience includes Chair, Federation of American Hospitals Health Information Technology Task Force (2011-2013).  She served as the 2016-2017 National Chair for the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).  Mary has also served as Chair of the National Audit and Finance Committee and the National Compensation Committee for HFMA.  

Mary currently serves on a portfolio company board for Riverside Partners, LLC.  She is a designated fellow of the Healthcare Finance Management Association (FHFMA) and a Certified Health Care Financial Professional from HFMA.

Mary graduated with honors from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University in 1987 with a Masters in Management and course concentrations in Finance and Marketing.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois with Honors in Occupational Therapy.

Mr. Phelps has been with Raymond James for 10 years. He rejoined Raymond James in 2016 after two years with Deutsche Bank Securities as a Director with senior coverage responsibility for the pharmacy supply chain. He has helped facilitate over 40 M&A transactions in his career as an advisor with an aggregate value of over $10 billion. Mr. Phelps holds a BA in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Alabama and an MS in Finance from Vanderbilt University.

As the Founder and CEO of Wellist, Ashley combines her passion for improving the lives of patients with deep experience in strategic planning and business development. While a Strategy Director at Philips Healthcare, Ashley defined corporate and business strategies across the company’s three major business groups: Imaging, Patient Care and Clinical Informatics and Home Health Solutions. 

Founded in 2013, Wellist now works with Mass General Hospital Cancer Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, with combined patient populations of over 100,000.

Over the past 12 months, Wellist has received numerous awards including a Silver Stevie® Award  for Company of the Year, selected for its exceptional growth and notable achievements in healthcare technology. Wellist was also awarded “Innovative Tech of the Year—Healthcare Tech” from the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC). The award cited Wellist’s significant contribution in the area of patient data and healthcare insights. In addition, Wellist was named a Rock Health/ Top 50 in Digital Health “for making exceptional progress in driving resources, attention, and innovation toward a massively better healthcare system.” Wellist received the “Diversity Leadership Award: Start-Up” for demonstrating “leadership in diversity, having continually shown their commitment to hiring, supporting, and building diverse teams to tackle the most pressing problems facing healthcare today.” Wellist was chosen as a “50 on Fire” company which recognizes "the city’s inventors, disruptors, luminaries, and newsmakers."

 Ashley was also recently named a winner of Med Tech’s 40 under 40 Healthcare Innovators. 

Ashley earned her BA from Colby College and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. She has also completed coursework at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work.

Ryan Stewart joined LEERINK Partners in 2015 as a Managing Director overseeing the Firm’s HC:Tech/Services Investment Banking franchise. Ryan brings over 20 years of industry experience and expertise, having worked in the healthcare technology field as an operating executive, management consultant, equity research analyst and, over the last decade, as an investment banker.

Most recently, Mr. Stewart was a Managing Director and Partner at TripleTree, where in his tenure with the firm he had extensive transaction experience across the healthcare technology landscape, with a particular emphasis on value-based care enablement, population health management, patient engagement, healthcare payments and other data analytics, software and digital health solutions. Ryan’s transaction experience includes Parthenon Capital’s Altegra Health’s sale to Emdeon (n/k/a Change Healthcare), Change Healthcare on their sale to Emdeon, Outcomes Health on their sale to Altegra Health, VRI on their sale to Pamlico Capital and Health Advocate on their sale to West Corporation.

Prior to TripleTree, Ryan was a senior banker at Lazard and senior equity research analyst at Piper Jaffray and Bear Stearns. He also worked in strategy and corporate development at Optum, a division of UnitedHealth Group and was a management consultant in Arthur Andersen’s Healthcare Technology practice. Ryan began his career in business development at Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey.
