What is an Add-On Acquisition? Perspectives from All-Sides of the Table
Join ACG Detroit
NextGen for our first “Breakfast and Learn” event focused on add-on
acquisitions hosted by Honigman. An “add-on” acquisition refers to a
company that is added by a private equity firm to one of its “platform”
companies, or by a strategic buyer pursuing a consolidation or “roll-up”
investment strategy. During this roundtable discussion, our very own
NextGen members will share their perspectives on add-ons vs. new platform
investments.
A few areas of discussion may include:
- How do add-ons support the platform company?
- What type of synergies are typically shared with add-ons?
- How do add-ons increase the overall return to investors?
- What types of things do financial or strategic buyers look for in add-ons?
- How are add-ons financed?
- Do add-ons sell for a higher or lower valuation than platform companies?
- Does the sell or buy-side deal process differ between add-ons and platforms?
Panel
Brad Barker, Vice President, Huron Capital Partners
Robert Kendall, SVP, UHY Advisors Corporate Finance
Eli Slack, Manager, Corporate Development at Masco Corporation
