Tamara Varela

Grant Thorton
Director of Strategy and Transactions

Tamara is a Director in Grant Thornton in the Transaction Advisory Services practice. With over 13 years of experience in Corporate Finance, she brings years of financial services industry knowledge. Currently, she leads both buy-side and sell-side due diligence projects both for corporate and private equity across various industries.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Tamara worked in the Treasury and Finance functions at Citibank based in New York. During her tenure at Citibank she outlaid multi-year strategic plans, was responsible for stress testing and the federal reserve’s comprehensive capital analysis and review (CCAR). Tamara also worked in Mexico and for the LATAM region prior to working in the US.

She has managed multidisciplinary teams across multiple finance functions including Financial Planning and Analysis, Controllership, Tax, Strategy, and Corporate Treasury. As a result, she has extensive experience in implementing and leading Finance transformation for global banking conglomerates as well as multinational consumer good companies.

She speaks Spanish and French and has extensive experience in performing financial due diligence, including cross-border transactions.

Scott Kramer

Executive Director in Healthcare Investment Banking

Mr. Kramer covers the value-based care, physician services, behavioral health and veterinary sectors.

Experience: Mr. Kramer has over 13 years of financial advisory experience having closed 30 transactions valued at $20 billion.  He has transaction experience across the full range of investment banking advisory services, including: public and private sell-side and buy-side M&A, as well as growth capital and debt financing transactions in both the public and private markets.

Background: Prior to joining Oppenheimer in 2020, Scott worked in healthcare investment banking at J.P. Morgan. Prior to investment banking, Scott has held positions in audit and assurance at Deloitte and in corporate finance at Forest Laboratories. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from Miami University and a M.B.A. from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

Carlos A. Batlle

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Carlos A Batlle is a Managing Director and Senior Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Miami. He is responsible for drawing upon the vast, global resources of J.P. Morgan to provide wealthy individuals and families in Florida innovative wealth planning and transfer solutions with an integrated view of combining credit, investing and tax tools. To ensure proper coordination of our clients' personal and professional needs, he works directly with their attorneys, accountants and other outside advisors to create a holistic, integrated plan. He also partners with other specialists at J.P. Morgan to provide comprehensive wealth management capabilities that help clients meet all of their financial goals.

Mr. Batlle joined J.P. Morgan after 23 years of private practice from the law firm Squire Sanders Dempsey, where he led that firm's South Florida Trust & Estate practice. He focused his practice on wills, trust and estate planning, probate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation. He also provided estate planning advice to international clients, assisted US and non-US taxpayers in structuring their investments abroad and advised individuals on the taxation and structuring of their domestic and offshore trusts and associated corporate groups. Additionally, he served as counsel for Latin America-based family groups and their related enterprises. Prior to Squire Sanders, Mr. Batlle was a Partner at Steel Hector & Davis in Miami.

Mr. Batlle has been honored as the Professional Advisor of the Year by the Key Biscayne Community Foundation and served as the chairman of the board. He is also a Circuit Representative of the Florida Bar Association's Real Property, Probate, & Trust Law Section as well as a member of the Executive Council. A graduate of Belen Jesuit, Mr. Batlle served as president of the board of directors for the Belen Jesuit Alumni Association and currently serves on the school's Board of Advisors. He is also a member of the Trust Executive Committee for the Florida Bankers Association.

Mr. Batlle received his B.S. from Georgetown University, his J.D. from Columbia University and his LL.M, from the University of Miami.
