Duffy Shea, President of Alamo Iron Works
FM ‘Duffy’ Shea began his career in sales for a Fortune 500 industrial manufacturer (Norton Company) in 1979. Quickly moving up thru distribution and sales management roles, he then moved into General Management & Operations with Norton-Mexico, including an expat role in Mexico City. Since leaving Norton in 1996, he has held President, COO and Board roles in both large and mid-sized public and private companies (Strategic Distribution Inc., Strategic Distribution de Mexico, and DBS LLC, respectively) focusing on turnaround performance, organic growth and growth thru acquisition. He has extensive operational experience in Mexico and in various end market distribution channels in North America.
Most recently, Duffy was recruited to turnaround the fortunes of a local iconic company, Alamo Iron Works, after the company was acquired thru bankruptcy in 2010 by Luther King Capital Management (LKCM) and their platform operating company, Industrial Distribution Group. Alamo Iron Works and IDG have since been successfully sold to a privately held company, Sonepar, the world’s largest distributor of electrical supplies.
Duffy has been married to his wife Maria Teresa (Chihuahua, MX) for 29 years and has four daughters, Karla, Caroline, Frances and Isabella. The two youngest attend TCU. He is a graduate of Trinity College (BS) and holds a master’s degree from Florida State University (MS).
