Frank Mottek is known as "The Voice of Business News in Los Angeles." An award-winning broadcast journalist with more than 30 years of experience, Frank currently hosts Mottek On Money weeknights live on the air at 5pm on 790 KABC in L.A. and worldwide on demand podcast. Mottek On Money received the 2020 Golden Mike Award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California for Best Business and Consumer Reporting. 

Frank joined CBS in Los Angeles in 1992 when he served as news reporter and anchor on KNX, host of the KNX Business Hour during the 2008 financial crisis, Mottek On Money during the 2020 pandemic, morning drive Senior Money Anchor, anchor on KCAL9-TV and spot reporter for KCBS-TV CBS2. For ten years, he also worked as reporter and business news anchor on the KTLA Channel 5 News @ 10 and the KTLA Morning News. He joined 790 KABC in 2021. 

On national television, Frank was the substitute stock market report and commentary anchor for Paul Kangas on "The Nightly Business Report" on PBS from 1989 through 1991. His TV experience also includes anchoring and reporting on WTVJ in Miami where he was part of the station's Peabody-award winning TV coverage of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Frank began his broadcast news career at the age of 16 at a top-rated FM station in Miami. He then joined the all-news CBS station Miami in 1981 where he was morning news anchor, reporter and news/talk host for 11 years. During that time, he provided the live descriptions of all space shuttle launches for the CBS Radio Network from 1985 through 1991 and he was an eyewitness to the 1986 Challenger disaster at the Kennedy Space Center.

He is frequently called to lead some of the highest profile business discussions and events for the LA Area Chamber of Commerce, LA BizFed, The Milken Institute, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, UCLA Anderson School of Management, the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG-LA), State Association of County Retirement System (SACRS), UCLA IS Associates, Los Angeles Business Journal, Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce and the Inland Empire and Southern California chapters of NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Frank frequently guest lectures at local universities and for ten years served as instructor at the Annenberg School for Communication at USC teaching the JOUR 407 "Newsradio" class he created. 

He has won numerous awards for excellence in journalism from the AP, UPI, RTNDA, L.A. Press Club, PRSA-LA, Junior Achievement of Southern California and the Radio-TV News Association of Southern California (RTNA) including many Golden Mike Awards. He received the 2015 Distinguished Journalist Award from the Society of Professional Journalists Los Angeles Chapter.  He served as President of SPJ-LA in 2011 and President of the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters (FAPB) in 1988 and 1989. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of SPJ-LA, the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California and the Concern Foundation for Cancer Research in Beverly Hills.
