What type of communicator are you? For women in the workplace, this can be a particularly loaded question. Have you been told your communication style is aggressive, passive, direct, or overbearing? Too nurturing or not nurturing enough? Communication—both what you say and how you say it—can make the difference between career advancement and stagnation. To communicate effectively, you need to adapt your communication style to meet people where they are at any given time. 

Join us as Maureen Lazar will discuss how to identify, adapt, and respond to communication preferences that may be different than yours! 

Members/Sponsors: $70 I Non-Members: $120


Cancellations received via email at least 3 business days from the event will be granted a refund, less a 20% administrative fee. Cancellations received after the cut-off date (3 days prior to) are not eligible for a refund. However, registrations can be transferred without penalty to another representative from the same company for the same event, with advanced notification to organizers. If the replacement representative is not a member of the association, the firm will be responsible to pay the difference between the member vs. non-member rate (this will vary depending on the event). Picture/Video Policy: Registration implies consent that any pictures or video taken during the event can be used for promotional purposes. ACG Pittsburgh is able to use your likeness without remuneration.

Maureen Lazar

Director of Workforce Effectiveness
University of Pittsburgh’s Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and College of General Studies

Maureen Lazar is the Director of Workforce Effectiveness at the University of Pittsburgh’s Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and College of General Studies where she provides organization development services to over 1,400 faculty and staff in 40 programs and departments. She has worked in the Dietrich School since April 2017 designing interventions through customized coaching, training, mapping, hiring, and strategic planning to align with the school’s priorities. Prior to her work in the Dietrich School, Maureen was part of Pitt’s Organization Development team in Human Resources for 10 years overseeing the learning and development function.

 

Throughout her career, her core focus has been to invest in an organization’s best resources, their people. As a certified instructor of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Maureen has worked with organizations across several industries including non-profit, financial, healthcare, and information technology to identify and define needs and solutions to achieve maximum organization success. She has taught multiple courses and developed curriculum over the last two decades on leadership and diversity topics that include identity, microaggressions, bias, power dynamics, effective communication, group dynamics, conflict management, feedback, customer service, and career advancement. Maureen is a graduate of the Leadership Development Initiative, a program of Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc. and is a Development Dimensions International (DDI) certified facilitator.
