More than one-in-three American workers today are Millennials (adults aged
20-36), easily the largest generation at work. By 2020, nearly half of
the entire U.S. workforce will be Millennials. By comparison, the generation
before them (Generation X) represents only 16 percent of today’s
workforce.
The last
two decades have seen a cultural transformation in the workplace.
Companies have gone from giving out gold watches to figuring out how to manage
“gigs” (the side job you might work in addition to your day job); employees
have stopped “clocking in” and are now demanding flexible work schedules and
the ability to work remotely; careers have transformed from working our way up
the ladder to wanting annual promotions.
The Millennial generation has turned corporate cultures upside down.
While these changes are mostly good, there are serious considerations companies
must make around HR, management, training, and development, as well as the work
environment to address the changing face of workplace culture. Our panel
will discuss how their organizations and clients have responded; sharing
personal stories and best practices to help us better navigate this new
generation and the cultural transformation in the workplace.
