ACG Kentucky February 2018 Lunch

Scott C. Cox was appointed by Governor Bevin to serve a four year term as the Chairman of the Louisville Arena Authority in July 2016. Mr. Cox is an attorney in Louisville where he and his partner, Michael Mazzoli, concentrate their practice in criminal defense.
Mr. Cox was born and raised in Louisville. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1981 and from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 1985. After graduating, Mr. Cox worked for a year in Washington as Senator McConnell’s counsel on the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. Following his service in Washington, Mr. Cox worked as an Assistant United States attorney in Louisville for seven and a half years. He prosecuted narcotics cases, violent crimes, and worked in the public corruption section his last two years in that office. He led the investigation and prosecution in the Mel Ignatow kidnaping case. He also investigated and prosecuted former Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Greene and was the lead prosecutor in the corruption scandal surrounding the Big Rivers Electric utility. While working at the Justice Department, Mr. Cox served 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and Kentucky National Guard as a JAG Officer.
Mr. Cox has been in the private practice of law since 1994. During that time, he has successfully represented the General Electric Corporation, famed class action attorney Stanley Chesley, and former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones along with former University of Louisville Assistant Basketball Coach Andre McGee. Mr. Cox most recently represented Billy Joe Miles, the long time chairman of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
Mr. Cox and his wife Lorie live in Louisville just outside of St. Matthews. Scott and Lorie have two children, Coleman, 21, a senior at Vanderbilt University, and Caroline, 19, a freshman at Claremont McKenna College in Los Angeles.
