Join us on August 25, 2016 for an informative and interactive panel discussion featuring three local industry veterans with a reputation as highly regarded connectors in Indianapolis.

Bruce Kidd, Senior Vice President at Walker, will lead this interactive panel and share insights for business networking best practices, along with how philanthropic involvement such as the "give before you take" mentality plays into this area. Q&A is included and encouraged.

Bruce Kidd
Senior Vice President, Walker
 
Bruce Kidd is Senior Vice President of Walker, one of the nation's leading customer strategy consulting firms. Walker advises companies of all sizes on how to become intensely customer focused in all of their business strategies. Walker also uses this expertise to assist PE Funds and Strategic Buyers with unique Customer Due Diligence in M&A transactions. Prior to joining Walker in January of 2009, Bruce worked for Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels as the Director of Entrepreneurship for the state. He managed all programs designed to assist in the creation and/or growth of entrepreneurial companies in Indiana. Those responsibilities included serving as the Managing Director of the 21st Century Fund, a seed fund for high tech start ups, which under his leadership, invested over 80M in 63 high tech ventures in three years. A native of Indianapolis, Kidd earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Purdue University.  He is an avid dog, sports and music fan and continues to work on his golf game to no great success.
 


Steve Appel
Vice President, Gregory & Appel Insurance
Steve is a fourth-generation family member to work at Gregory & Appel Insurance. He focuses on the areas of Venture Capital/Private Equity, Technology and Life Sciences, along with other emerging growth companies. He is a board member of TechAssure, an organization of worldwide insurance brokerage firms that serve over 4,000 industry clients in technology and life science. TechAssure is the exclusive managing partner for the National Venture Capital Association. Prior to joining Gregory & Appel, Steve worked in Southern California for a Santa Monica, CA-based middle market investment bank that was a portfolio company of a Venture Capital fund. Previous to that he also served in Washington DC as the Legislative Director and Press Secretary for U.S. Congressman Frank Riggs, (CA-01). He graduated from Rollins College and has an MS in Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. Steve participated in the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership program. He is a past President and current member of the ACG-Indiana board of directors, and a past board member of the International School of Indiana and Happy Hollow Camp. He is married with two children.


 
John Wechsler
Founder, Launch Fishers
John is founder of Launch Fishers, a 52,000 square foot launch pad for high-potential enterprises in Fishers, Indiana.  Bringing together Launch Fishers, The Town of Fishers and The Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, John founded Launch Indiana, a program to build entrepreneurial capacity throughout the state through mentorship, workshops and digital content for Indiana's Innovation Driven Entrepreneurs. Prior to the creation of Launch Indiana, John served as Entrepreneur in Residence for the State of Indiana through the ISBDC. John was a Partner at DeveloperTown (2011-2012), an Indianapolis-based venture development firm where he worked with high-potential ventures on business strategy, early customer/business development and fundraising. Prior to DeveloperTown, John has been a founder, co-founder or C-level exec in several venture-backed startups including Formspring, Formstack, Vontoo, Wishoo and beenz. John started his career at IBM where he managed the global account plans for multiple Fortune 500 clients and achieved membership in the Golden Circle - recognizing the top 1.5% of the IBM sales force. Prior to starting with IBM John earned a marketing degree from Indiana University where he participated in the School of Business Overseas Study Program in Maastricth, the Netherlands.  John is active in the Indianapolis-area community having served on many nonprofit and community boards including serving as past Chairman of the Board of NPower Indiana and Past President of the Indiana Chapter of Young Entrepreneurs' Organization.  John currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Venture Club of Indiana and Visit Hamilton County, the tourism commission serving the communities "Just North of Indy."
