TJ Kern

TJ Kern is a senior commercial banker and a member of Vectra Bank Colorado’s Corporate Banking team.  During his 35-year career, TJ has worked with numerous small and mid-sized businesses to help optimize cash flow, capital structure, profitability, and growth.  His experience includes 15 years of working with private equity firms to provide senior debt for leveraged acquisitions in the lower middle market.

Prior to joining Vectra Bank in August 2019, TJ established, built, and managed Sunflower Bank’s Structured Finance Group offering leveraged lending and asset-based lending services.  Before his time at Sunflower Bank, TJ spent 13 years at CoBiz Financial where he held progressively responsible positions as a senior commercial banker, manager of CoBiz’s Structured Finance team, and executive vice president of CoBiz’s Denver commercial banking unit.

TJ’s experience also includes time with Affiliated Bancshares of Colorado, Leprino Foods Company, CoBank ACB, Bank One Colorado (now Chase Bank), and Merrill Lynch Business Financial Services.  At these companies, TJ was recognized for his outstanding performance in management, process improvement, business development, and teamwork.

TJ holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) and a Finance MBA from the University of Colorado.  He has resided and worked in the Denver metro area for 48 years.
