Meet the Board: Anthony Pena, Commercial Banking Leader, Wells Fargo Middle Market

Introduce us to your day job, title and responsibilities.  

I’m the Commercial Banking Leader for Wells Fargo Middle Market covering companies across the LA Valley region. I lead a team of Relationship Managers focused on providing clients with credit facilities and other financial services (cash management, foreign exchange, investment banking).  

What inspired you to pursue a job in this industry?

I enjoy learning new things and this career provides me the opportunity to learn about different industries every day and meet new people. I love hearing how entrepreneurs started their business and how they’ve grown it over time. Being a part of their success and helping them achieve their goals through financing or providing advice is a rewarding career.

Why was it important for you to be involved in ACG 101 at the Board level? 

Continue to learn about new companies and innovation in our region. We have a dynamic business environment along the 101 corridor and ACG 101 provides a platform where I connect with business professionals and companies.

Describe your current responsibilities on the Board, if applicable. 

What is your favorite thing about ACG 101? The organizations involvement in the local community and partnering with non-profits. I think the board and the organization cares about the local community and we continue to make an effort to connect our business community closer to non-profits through the annual awards event and other holiday events.

What excites you most about the direction of ACG 101, and how will you contribute to it?

The organization is being more creative with our events and providing our membership more resources or opportunities to connect with the business community. Our annual incubator/tech event in partnership with CLU is a great opportunity to support local tech entrepreneurs and get involved at an early stage of a company’s life cycle.

3 Fun Facts

1. I worked for the police department (LAPD) for 5 years during college as I pursued a career in law enforcement, but I changed my mind after discovering banking!
2. My family loves dogs, we had 4 chihuahua’s at one point but are now down to a manageable level of 2 chihuahuas
3. My wife and I have 2 lovely kids, Camila and Lucas ages 8 and 6, and we’ve been surviving virtual homeschooling during COVID and all 4 of us running zoom meetings at the same time. Interesting times.
